PRESS RELEASE
Threatened by our unity between over 20 political parties, 10 civil groups, 5 military factions among them Rapid Support Forces(RFS) to form the Sudan Founding Alliance, it is shockingly coming to our attention that all gains towards achieving a peaceful Sudan could be clawed back with thousands killed and potentially millions in the coming days. This alarming rate is due to, the move by Sudanese Army(SAF) to use chemical weapons to kill innocent citizens.
The unfortunate and unimaginable violation against human rights and crimes against humanity are being perpetuated blatantly by the leadership of the Sudanese Army as reliable reports indicate that in atleast 2 occasions, chemical weapons have been used in the last 2 days with its effect equated to a massacre.
Our private investigations reveal that Sudanese Army(SAF) are hiding in rooms especially in tall buildings, aiming their rifles through windows which are loaded with large capsules-like projectiles that release a densely smoke upon firing. This should not be misconstrued to be military grade tear gas, but a deliberate choice to use chemical weapons to claim lives.
Fears are now growing in the densely populated Khartoum that illegal and outlawed use of chemical weapons risk causing deaths of hundreds of thousands of residents if not millions. This also subjects SAF officers to dangerous working conditions who are forced to use protective gears.
We hereby urge the International Criminal Court(ICC) to bring to book this criminals and an immediate intervention of all relevant international agencies and organizations to save the escalating humanitarian crisis and exacerbating the suffering of civilians. The Sudan Army(SAF) must adhere to international humanitarian law and principles of human rights protection.
